White -tail deer in Kentucky suffers from an infectious disease caused by cute small insects.
the Kentucky is a fish resources and wildlife (KYDFWR) announced on Facebook Thursday morning that the Commonwealth is witnessing the outbreak of hemorrhage (HD).
The officials said The Midge population reaches the summer, especially in areas with heavy rains early, followed by dry weather. These conditions cultivate the ideal conditions for Midge reproduction.
Fish and wildlife said that the deer affected by HD often height fever and the search for water to cool. This is due to this behavior, many deers with HD are found dead near the ponds or tables.
HD is not deadly for all deer. Some deer developing the antibodies they pass to their descendants, according to fish and wildlife.
As of September 22, officials reported that about 1074 deer were reported to be sick or dead, and there are 553 reports throughout Kentucky, affecting 94 provinces.
Fish officials and wildlife said that 30 samples were offered, 19 of which were positive for HD, with 11 samples still hanging.
HD symptoms include:
- Difficulty breathing
- Lameness
- Swelling of the head, neck, tongue or conjunctiva
Officials emphasize that HD is not the same as a chronic wasting disease, not a human being, and does not spread to most pets.
