One killed, two injured in Sonoma County DUI crash: CHP

(KRON) – One person was killed and two others were seriously injured in a two-vehicle DUI crash on Lakeville Highway in Sonoma County on Sunday, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The accident occurred south of Old Lakeville Road 3 at 5:56 a.m

“The preliminary investigation indicates that a southbound Ford Mustang crossed the double yellow lines while attempting to illegally pass a Toyota Highlander, and collided head-on with a northbound Honda HR-V,” CHP said. “The collision caused the Toyota to leave the road after hitting the left side.”

One of the passengers in the Honda was killed in the crash. The Honda driver and the Mustang driver were seriously injured. The six people in the Toyota were not injured.

The driver of the Mustang was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs, the CHP said.

The Lakeville Expressway was closed for more than four hours while the CHP investigated the crash. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact CHP.
