(Crohn’s) – Former NFL All-Pro linebacker Doug Martin has died at the age of 36, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers confirmed on social media on Sunday. Martin spent six of his seven NFL seasons in Tampa Bay from 2012-17 and played his final season with the Oakland Raiders in 2018.
“We are deeply saddened to learn of Doug Martin’s sudden and unexpected passing,” the Pirates wrote. X. “Doug has had a lasting impact on our franchise. He was a fan favorite during his time in Tampa Bay and was honored as one of the 50 Greatest Buccaneers of All Time for his many accomplishments.”
According to A Family statement According to Fox Sports, Martin died Saturday morning; His cause of death is unknown at this time.
Martin was born in Oakland and grew up in Stockton, California, where he attended St. Mary’s High School. He played college football at Boise State and was drafted in the first round (31st overall) in the 2012 NFL Draft.
Martin had a career year in 2015 when he was named first-team All-Pro after rushing for 1,402 yards and six touchdowns.
