‘Next Gen NYC’ Fans Accuse Gia Giudice of Racist Microaggressions Towards Riley Burruss
Gia Giudice is catching major heat online as fans accuse her of using microaggressions and shady undertones toward Riley Burruss after their tense showdown on Next Gen NYC.
The Next Gen NYC season finale has officially aired, but the drama between Gia Giudice and Riley Burruss continues to spark conversation online. After episodes 7 and 8 highlighted rising tensions between the two reality stars, viewers are calling out Gia for alleged “microaggressions” toward Riley.
The rift between the daughters of Real Housewives stars Teresa Giudice and Kandi Burruss began during a group dinner celebrating Brooks Marks’ 25th birthday at the Jersey Shore. In Episode 7, Riley criticized castmate Georgia McCann’s idea to open a bowling alley nightclub, calling it “terrible.”
Gia wasn’t pleased with Riley’s directness and responded, “Don’t be nasty,” adding, “I think when you get a little tipsy, you get a little rough.” Riley defended herself, saying she was simply being honest as a friend. “If my friend was like, ‘What do you think about this idea?’ I would be honest because I thought we were friends,” she explained in Episode 8 over breakfast.
Gia doubled down during the pancake sit-down, telling Riley, “I think there’s maybe just like a nicer way of saying it, that’s all.” The moment that lit up social media came when Gia’s boyfriend, Christian Carmichael, unexpectedly sided with Riley.
“See, I think she can talk however she wants. If you don’t like it, don’t talk to her,” Christian said, directly contradicting Gia in front of the group.
Gia, clearly caught off guard, replied through a tense smile, “Ok, Christian.” Viewers quickly took to social media platforms to share their thoughts — and many weren’t on Gia’s side. “Christian standing up to Gia was everything. Riley didn’t deserve that passive-aggressive nonsense,” one user wrote.
Another fan tweeted, “Gia telling Riley not to be ‘nasty’ and accusing her of being ‘rough’ when tipsy is giving textbook microaggressions. I’m glad Christian checked her.”
Others pointed out that Gia’s tone seemed different when addressing Riley, who is Black, compared to how she handles conflict with other cast members. “She’s never that pressed when it’s Georgia or Brooks being shady,” one user commented. “Riley speaks facts and suddenly it’s a ‘tone’ issue.”
A user chimed in, “Gia tried to play etiquette police, but Riley handled herself with class. Kandi raised her right.” Another fan says, “Riley said what needed to be said and stayed classy, meanwhile Gia was spiraling over tone. Christian deserves credit for calling Gia out in real time.”
While Bravo has yet to announce a Season 2 renewal, one thing is certain — viewers are already invested in the next chapter of this growing drama.
