Nexstar and Sinclair bring Jimmy Kimmel's show back to local TV stations

Los Angeles (AP)-NexStar Media Group and Singlair Broadcast Group have brought back a jimmy Kimmel dialogue program late at night to local TV stations on Friday night, where he finished a day TV blackout for dozens of cities across the United States

On September 17, companies suspended the statements made by the comedian after the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kerk. ABC, owned by Disney Kimmel, commented on the same day, after possible repercussions from the Chairman of the Federal Communications Committee appointed Trump.

Double companies move on Friday, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” You will return to local television on 28 ABC companies, from the Nexstar, from Tobika, Kansas, to New Orleans, along with 38 markets in Snkir, from Seattle to Washington, DC.

Kimmel’s suspension lasted less than a week, while the affiliated overcoming stood for more than a week.

When the boycott began, Senkler, known for his conservative political content, called Kimmel to apologize to the Kirk family and asked him to “make a meaningful personal donation” to the transformation of Point, the United States of America, a non -profit establishment founded by Kirk.

When Kirk was killed, Kimel called “meaningless murder” and participated in a message of support for his family and other victims of armed violence on social media, which he repeated during his return on Tuesday.

Kimmel’s original comments did not focus on Kirk. Instead, President Donald Trump criticized his administration and his administration for killing. In his first presentation, the comedian did not apologize, but he said, “My intention was never to shed light on the killing of a young man,” and admitted that his comments “felt either timing, unclear, or perhaps.”

He also used a mixture of humor and pointed messages to emphasize the importance of freedom of expression.

The Texas -based Senkler Senkler continued to anticipate the offer for three days, even after ABC and Disney returned to the national waves of air.

New episodes of Air offer from Monday to Thursday. RERun will be Friday night on Tuesday’s show-so the previous black stations will broadcast Kimmel’s emotional return to the show. Viewers will have to wait until Monday to obtain new developments.

In its statement on Friday, Senkler referred to “its responsibility as local broadcasters to provide programming that serves the interests of our societies, while honoring our obligations to broadcast the programming of the national network.”

The company added that it had received “a deliberate reactions from viewers, advertisers and community leaders,” and noticed “concern violence”, indicating fire in the lobby of the Sacramento station.

Senkler said that her proposals to Disney to enhance accountability, comments and dialogue and appoint the grievance secretary have not yet been adopted.

In a similar statement on Friday, NexStar said that she appreciates Disney’s approach to her fears and that she is “still committed to protecting the first amendment” while broadcasting content “in the interest of the societies that we serve.”

The two companies said that their decisions were not affected by the influence of the government or anyone else.

Disney representatives refused to comment.

As a result of the boycott, viewers were left in cities that represent nearly a quarter of the local television subsidiaries in ABC without a program late at night on local TV. The power outage was canceled in a stir at the country level over the protection of the first amendment – especially since the Trump administration and other conservative police speech after Kirk was killed. They also shed light on the political influence in the media scene, as critics raise the companies they accuse of controlling the content.

Before his comment, Kimmel targeted the President and the “Maga Gang” from their supporters to respond to the killing of Kirk, which Kimmel said that included “preparing the fingers” and attempts to describe the alleged shooter as “anything else others.”

These observations have angered many Kirk supporters – as well as the Chairman of the Federal Communications Committee, Brendan Car, who accused Kimmel of appearing to “mislead the American public directly” with his observations about the man accused of death. He warned that local companies in Disney and ABC may face repercussions if the comedy is not punished.

Car later applauded Snkir and Nixar, for their decisions to anticipate the offer.

“Inappropriate and very sensitive,” said the Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Senkler Jason Smith on the day when Kimmel’s comments began to obscure the comments of Kimmel.

While local television subsidiaries broadcast their own programs, such as local news, they also shrink with the largest national broadcasters – and pay them to broadcast their national content, and divide advertising and fees revenues from cable companies.

Matthew Doljin, chief stockpile of Mooringstar, said he was not surprised by Kimmil’s return to local stations.

“The relationship with Disney is very important for these companies for risk,” Dolgen said. He added that Disney was freedom in her agreements elsewhere in 2026 if these relationships were very difficult.
