Neighbors in Morrison work along firefighters for National Wildfire Preparedness Day

Morrison, Colorado (KDVR) – on Saturday afternoon, the neighbors met from four different neighborhoods in Morrison at Kingfisher Lake Park to receive new FireWise signs.

The four neighborhoods that are recognized in the Willo Springs community are the rock of the whale, Sandans, Willo Springs North and the triangle park.

“The efforts made to become FireWise had a Marshall fire in 2021 in Bulder Province, and two fires near the Snow Kreik fire in July 2022 and quarry fire in 2024,” said Ronda Schulting, the West Metro Fire in July 2022 and the quarry fire in 2024.

These areas have been recognized as FireWise USA sites by the National Fire Protection Association. What this means for the neighbors in the region is that they worked hard and were proactive in reducing the risk of wild fires.

The other thing that the neighbors recognize is their strength in society, and the gathering together to ensure that the neighborhood is preparing as much as possible to reduce the dangers of fires in the wildfire and protect homes in the region.

“A concern about the danger of fire in the ground/urban interface, many population met to take action, which led to the establishment of local FireWise committees and focusing on preparing for massive fires at the community level,” Schulting said.

These signs will be published in the regions. The firefighters with Fire West Metro will be in the width of the signs.
