(Krona) – Officials announced on Thursday that the parents of a man wounded by Napa police sergeant will receive a million dollars in the city of Napa. Police said that 26 -year -old Jeremy Felineth was referring to a gun on his father in a local conflict before he aimed at officers and killing.
After the deadly police were shot on October 6, 2021, his parents filed a lawsuit in the field of federal civil rights. At that time, the family lawyer, Dan Rousseau, opposed the facts presented by the police station. Rousseau claimed that Vellenoweth was suffering from “nervous breakdown, mental health crisis”, and that “no person threatened.”
Lawyer Naba Alison Haley announced in February 2023 that there will be no criminal charges in the accident. The city of Napa continued to reject the responsibility for the death of Felineth, as a $ 1 million settlement was announced on April 17, 2025.
“We regret the death of Mr. Villanoyeth,” the city director Steve Potter said in a statement. “The city believes that the censor does the right thing in life -threatening conditions. It also believes that the best decision for this lawsuit is this difficult settlement, which does not satisfy anyone, but it allows administration and society to avoid sabotage that extends to the future.
On the afternoon of October 6, 2021, Napa police were sent to a house on 1,600 blocs of Pear Tree Lane after he reported 911 of the callers of a home disorder. One call came from the father of Felinoith, who told the messengers that his son wanted to commit “suicide by a policeman.”
The arriving officers heard Felinoith fire at a shot while they were approaching the residence. Before the shooting of Sergeant Felineth, the authorities said that Felinyeth was seen “on the corridor with his gun at the chest level” and referred to the officers.
“In an attempt to protect those threatened by Vellenoweth, the sergeant fired his service weapon, and hit Vellenoweth, causing the rifle to drop.”
After gunshots came out, the mother of Villanoyeth can be heard screaming in Video body camera at the officer (Warning: The video contains sensitive content).
The paramedics close to reach Vellenoweth for more than 7 minutes, “because the father was not cooperative and will not move away from his son and the nearby rifle,” according to the investigators.
Vellenoweth was transferred to the area hospital, where he died of multiple injuries.
