Ourora, Colorado (KDVR)-Umm Rock urges the castle drivers to pay more close attention after the 5-year-old driver was injured while crossing the street, and the driver never stopped.
Amani Willis says that her son, Zaidin Martin, was riding his bike with her to get ice cream after 7:40 pm on July 12. They were crossing in a roundabout in the Brominide Corridor, near Alana’s apartments, when the White SUV hit the corridor.
“I was crying out, stopping, and I was trying to attract the driver’s attention,” Willis said. “But they were not the brake – not once, not for a second one who brakes at all. I could not really say … I was only praying that my son had made her through it.”
After the accident, it says the driver escaped from the scene.
“It is a tragic thing because, as you know, even if it was an accident – he is five years old. He is five years old. Like, you don’t care how to do? How did he appear? He is very young. He was sad. I was not angry – I was sad, because how could you be very harsh?”
Zaiden has been transferred to the Children’s Hospital in Colorado in Aurora, where he has been receiving care since then.
“Fortunately, he does not have broken bones,” Willis said. “He only has a fracture in his skull and bleeding in his brain – but nothing required surgery. He only needed one stitch to the back of his head. So in general, the neurologist said he was super.”
In the days following the beating and running, Willis posted details about the car and a partial social media license number. She says that advice from society helped the police identify the suspect.
She said: “They are 100 % sure that they know who it is. It is in fact about getting it – because it will be a felony charge – so they want to make sure they have all the evidence to obtain the correct charges.”
While her son recovers, Willis says she hopes what happened is an invitation to wake up to other drivers.
“It is important to remain safe as a society, because it is supposed to be a village, right? We are supposed to search for each other. This is what we should do – especially while driving.” In particular. “
Despite everything, it says that the bright spirit of Zaydin has not diminished.
“I am happy that he does not break his adventurous side, and his cruel side. He still wants to go out and enjoy life.”
Zaidin is still in hospital, with treatment and recovery in front of him. His mother says that he is a strong little boy – and is already looking to start kindergarten this fall.
Castle Rock Police has not publicly announced arrest, but the investigation is still active.
