‘Moms Are the Backbone of Any Family’ – Patriots Legend Julian Edelman Shares Wholesome Mother’s Day Message

The NFL has always been a physical sport, demanding players to be toughened men going against each other like bulls in a prizefight. As a result, they tend to maintain a sturdy demeanor even off the gridiron. There are very few days that the superstars wowing us on the field showcase their soft side in front of the world.

However, Mother’s Day is one such day when virtually every NFL athlete has a chance to show off that version of himself. This year was no different, with former New England Patriots superstar and dynasty cornerstone Julian Edelman penning a beautiful message for the mothers in his family and all over the world.

Julian Edelman Has Perfect Mother’s Day Message

Edelman was one of the best draft success stories for the Patriots. Taken in the seventh round at No. 232 overall in 2009, Edelman would go on to become one of the most prolific wide receivers of the Patriots dynasty.

His connection with Tom Brady was the stuff of legend. Edelman powered New England to three Super Bowls, with him even claiming MVP honors in Super Bowl 53, thanks to a 141-yard performance in a 13-3 slugfest.

But, on the occasion of Mother’s Day, Edelman shifted the attention to who he believes is the most important member of his family. Taking to X, he wrote a sweet message for his mother.

“Happy Mother’s Day to the woman who kept always keeps our crazy little family in line. Moms are the back bone of any family, the Edelmans included. Love ya Mom!”

His mother, Angela Edelman, hailed from Canada and was a descendant of German parents who used to live in Belgium. Over the years, Edelman has made it a habit to wish her a Mother’s Day on social media.

The two have always shared a close relationship, with his mother being the first person he talked to after winning Super Bowl MVP honors.

“I just said, ‘I love you,’ and I appreciate her,” Edelman said. “I wouldn’t be where I’m at without them. Sometimes you just got to say it to let them know.”

Even during his formative years, Angela was always available to him, attending every practice and game on the field.

“I was a stay-at-home mom. I was the room mother [at school], and I was the team mom for all the sports, for all the kids. I was just always there for them in that way. And, Jules’ fun side is me. His serious side, his work ethic, is his dad and his little lighter side is more me. We had a lot of fun,” she told Patriots.com back in 2015.
