Saturday’s game against East Texas A&M wasn’t just about football — it was about family, hope, and showing a wounded teammate that he’s never alone in this fight.
How Did Florida State Honor Their Hospitalized Teammate?
Pritchard was heavy on the Noles’ hearts as they took the field against East Texas A&M on Saturday. Players wore shirts and arm bands honoring their teammate and even laid out his #35 jersey at midfield.
In one of the most emotional moments of the early college football season, head coach Mike Norvell delivered a heartfelt message to Earl Pritchard, the linebacker’s father, following the team’s touching tribute during Saturday’s game against East Texas A&M.

Norvell, while fighting through his obvious emotions, addressed Earl and his team. “He told me the other day, this is where his boy wants to be. We got it done for him, right? I want you to take that to him.”
On the field, #14 Florida State continued its strong start to the 2025 campaign. The Noles followed a two-touchdown win on opening day with a 77-3 win against East Texas A&M. Following the heartwarming tributes to Pritchard, they came out with a purpose and immediately opened a 21-0 lead and took a 49-0 lead into the half.
Norvell and his team got the job done for Pritchard today, but they remain optimistic that this will soon be over. “We know he’s going to be back with us soon,” he continued in his post-game speech to Earl and his team. We appreciate your strength, we appreciate your family, we appreciate your son. We will be continuing to pray for him as a football family.”
What Does Ethan Pritchard’s Road to Recovery Look Like?
While Norvell and his program remain optimistic and look forward to brighter days, they know there is still a long road ahead. He spoke to ESPN earlier this week about his visit with Pritchard. “I try to give the players a daily update. I was able to go by yesterday for a short period of time with limited visitation, just getting a chance to be there for a handful of minutes. It was good to be with him.”
