Aurora, Colorado (KDVR) – Riley Ashbi was only 12 years old and was out of a typical child, playing outside, when his life was cut.
Riley was riding a scooter in a cross corridor when a distracted driver failed to stop and hit him. While his parents deal with the indispensable sadness and loss, the community is called to take action on Saturday, July 26.
According to the family, Riley brought joy, laughter and love for everyone and “his absence leaves a void that can never be filled.”
Last Saturday morning, July 19, Riley did everything correctly. The 12 -year -old was in a cross corridor and had the right to the road at the intersection of East Elif Street and Park South Whale when he lost his life, according to the police.
The growing memorial is now sitting at the intersection, and it is expected to grow on Saturday. This is when a large gathering occurs to honor Riley’s life.
Daniel Gurinski, a member of the Aurora City Council, has been in close contact with the Haddad family since the accident and participated more with the audience about Riley.
“He was a happy child. He was an adventure.” “There is a video of him when he was younger and says he wanted to be a police officer when he grew up. He was really in muscle cars too. He was just a happy child.”
On behalf of the sadness family, Jurinsky invites all members of society to support and pay respect for Riley on Saturday, July 26, at 7 pm at the ILIFF Avenue.
In addition to family, friends, classmates, parents, and Aurora residents, there will also be a group of cars that go out to honor Riley, because he loved cars. Community members are encouraged to bring flowers, balloons, candles, hot wheels, or anything else they want to honor them.
Jurinsky visited the crash site earlier this week with Riley’s parents and gave a great hug to Riley’s mother.
“It was very emotional,” said Jurinsky. “It is still emotional for me to have a son of myself, this is not an idea that I can understand.
The council member said that Riley’s parents are going through is very traumatized.
“I think they have been overwhelmed,” Gourinski said. “They are definitely in a sad period. The father did not leave the site for three days. He was asleep there. He didn’t wipe.
According to Jurinsky, family members and people who love Riley fly to Colorado from all over the country to attend the memorial on Saturday, and hopes that the Colorado community will be there as well.
