Mariska Hargitay made sure her daughter was front and center for a special Broadway night. On Tuesday, Sept. 9, the Law & Order: SVU star, was photographed backstage at Hamilton with her 14-year-old daughter, Amaya, enjoying a special night together.
Mariska was all smiles as she put her arm around Amaya, who returned the gesture with a soft smile of her own.
The teenage girl wore a cozy white sweater featuring a bear in a cowboy hat, while the 61-year-old opted for a sleek black jacket and shirt, accessorized with gold necklaces.
This special performance of the Broadway hit marks Leslie Odom Jr. return to the role of Aaron Burr, which he originally originated before leaving in July 2016.
Odom’s return will be strictly limited 12-week run at New York City’s Richard Rodgers Theatre, running through Nov. 23. This special moment gave Mariska a chance to share the excitement of the evening with her daughter. Alongside Amaya, Hargitay shares sons August, 19, and Andrew, 13, with her husband, Peter Hermann.
Mariska and her family believe in spending quality time together. Earlier this summer, the family spent time together on set while Mariska filmed season 27 of Law & Order: SVU. The actress also brought her children to Los Angeles for a special screening of her documentary My Mom, Jayne.
Reflecting on motherhood in January 2024, Hargitay told People Magazine that she was “so grateful that I’m an older mom.”
“I don’t know if I could have handled it when I was younger. When I was younger, I wasn’t as present, but as I’ve gotten older, I’ve started to accept and appreciate.” She added that her parenting approach is shaped by both her children and her husband. “The thing that’s made me a better parent is my kids, because they taught me to really listen,” she said. “My husband is my North Star, and my kids are my teachers.”
