HARRIS COUNTY, Texas (KTRK) — A man has been arrested after being accused of injuring a woman in a road rage incident on FM-529 on Saturday, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
The suspect has been identified as 33-year-old Franklin Alvarado, who faces one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and two counts of third-degree deadly conduct, authorities said. Alvarado was booked into the Harris County Jail, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
The accident happened near FM-529 and Glen Chase on Saturday morning, according to officials.
HCSO said the incident began when three people were inside a vehicle traveling eastbound on FM-529, when Alvarado displayed aggressive driving. One driver honked his horn at the other, and that’s when the two drivers stopped where Alvarado allegedly fired his gun into the back of the vehicle, striking a woman who was sitting in the passenger seat, authorities said. Pictures from the scene show the rear window of a pickup truck shattered by gunfire.
The woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to hospital for treatment.
Alvarado initially fled the scene, but was later found and arrested not far from the shooting site, the sheriff’s office said.
