Macklemore’s Seattle residence was targeted in a home invasion over the weekend, according to The Seattle Times and KOMO News. During the robbery, two men stole jewelry and attacked his nanny with bear spray.
A police report says officers were dispatched to the rapper’s property around 1:00 a.m. on Saturday in response to a call from a woman who turned out to be his nanny.
The woman told authorities that she had just put Macklemore’s three children to sleep when two men entered the house through a patio door. The “taller one” allegedly ordered the “shorter one” to spray her with bear mace before demanding to see the “jewels.”
She then led the suspects to the master bedroom, where they stole thousands of dollars’ worth of jewelry, watches, and shoes. After biting the shorter man’s hand, the woman managed to escape to a neighbor’s house and call 911.

According to police, the men were caught on camera leaving the house. The woman said she did not see the suspects carrying guns, but they were wearing face masks, gloves, and vests that looked “tactical in nature.”
Macklemore’s children were not hurt in the incident. Police placed them into the care of family members, who took them to a nearby residence for safety.
The nanny also told police that she believes the crime might have been politically motivated. Last year, Macklemore released two pro-Palestine songs and led a “fuck America” chant at Seattle’s Palestine Will Live Forever festival. He later clarified the comment was “directed at the politicians who have put profit over people.”
As The Seattle Times notes, however, the police recently arrested a man in connection with a series of break-ins at the homes of high-profile athletes.
