The protest was held to honor the life of Samuel Riverus, 35, a Balwin Park police officer who was killed in a duty.
More than 1,000 people gathered outside the Baldwin city hall Park on Friday night, as a large memorial full of flowers, candles and souvenirs continue to grow.
A spokesman for the memorial Riveros described as “a man of personality, thinking and courage.”
On May 31, the officers responded to a house in the 4200 mass of Filhurst Street, based on reports of a man who launches a rifle on the street around 7:15 am
When they arrived, they put a victim, Darius Wong, 43, suffer from a gunshot to the top of his body. He was transferred to the hospital and announced his death later.
The officers were met with fire from the suspect. Riveros began running towards the shots to help his colleagues when he was the suspect.

Riverus was transferred to the hospital, where he died from his wounds. The second officer, who was also injured, was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.
The suspect, Eduardo Roberto Medina, 22, was shot and was taken to the hospital in a stable condition.
The authorities said that Wong, the father of two young girls, stopped his car and was walking to a family party when he was shot.
Riverus was an inventor of warriors in the Baldwin Park Police Department. His colleagues remember him as a custom officer and friend who loves to serve his community.

“He had care for this society and sponsored the administration,” said a colleague Joseph Valencia. “All he did is to make the correction look good and make his brothers and sisters look good and most importantly to protect the city.”
“He is really my little brother, but he was my crutch and he did not know that,” said Riveros police partner. “I looked at him for that.”
“There is no way for us to convey to you the void and heartache that we feel in the loss of the beloved Sami,” said Rivelight Vigil’s sister.
On June 3, the suspect, Al -Madinah Al -Munawwarah, was accused of two charges of death, along with other charges.
The charges include allegations of the conditions of multiple murder crimes and the killing of the peace officer. These special circumstances can make Medina eligible for the death penalty if convicted.
Nathan Hoshman, Los Angeles County’s lawyer, said his office would later decide whether to follow the death penalty.
Riveros friends remember as a ice board and a thirsty dodgers. Riverus has become a law enforcement officer after studying criminality, law and society at the University of California, Irvin. He survived his mother, sister and two brothers.
His family said that the funeral arrangements are still in the planning stages and no date has been determined.
