Many happen on Saturday: Science Day, President Donald Trump’s birthday, a huge military parade in Washington, DC to celebrate the US Army 250Y Birthday, protests at the country’s level over the president and all his administration policies occur.
“No Kings” demonstrations occur throughout the country on Saturday, including in the Los Angeles region. The largest demonstration is expected to take place in the center of Los Angeles, which was severely affected by violent protests against the federal immigration raids that took place last week. There are also at least dozens of other planned demonstrations across Socal.
In the aftermath of the civil turmoil after the ice raids – which also sparked a political speech between the mayor of Los Angeles Karen Bass, the governor of California State Gavin New Roosom and President Trump – Los Angeles officials do not bear any risks when it comes to the planned demonstrations on Saturday throughout the city, including the city center, and the San Fernando Valley.
Bass, head of the Los Angeles Police Department, Jim McDONEL, joined on Saturday morning at a press conference that identified the preparation measures for officials. First, however, she issued an appeal to the peaceful demonstration.
Bass said: “While people walk today, please, please, please do not give management an excuse to intervene.” “Let’s make sure that we show the world’s best in Los Angeles and our country. Let’s benefit from provocation, escalation and violence.”
“I would like to thank those who protest in peace … those who commit violence do not do this on behalf of the immigrants, and do not make mistakes, we have no tolerance with anyone who harms property or puts officers or people at risk,” she continued. “We will not allow violence, sabotage, or other dangerous behavior, so do not try it.”
She explained that “the eyes of the world are present in Los Angeles” and that Angelinus “should not be defined by Washington’s works.”
She concluded that “let us show the world what is going on around Los Angeles, California and our nation: freedom, first amendment, peace and unity.”
The head of Lapd McDonnell stated that his maximum priority is public safety in a peaceful way, but this will not happen without Angelinus’s cooperation. He also repeated the mayor’s message to anyone who intends to be violent.
“We are closely monitoring developments and spreading our resources and employees strategically to protect public safety while protecting the constitutional right for everyone to protest in peace.” “Let me be very clear: if you are here in Los Angeles today to make your voice hear through peaceful demonstrations, we are here to protect you. But if you come here with the intention of committing property or other harm – including our officers – you will be arrested.”
“We will not allow violence or chaos to be at risk in Los Angeles,” he added. “Violence and destruction do not make your voice with a louder voice … they distract from your case. Help us ensure that the focus remains on the message, not chaos.”
