(BCN) – Lauren Taylor was leading in early returns in the special elections to choose the next Oakland Mayor on Tuesday night, according to the Alamida province registrar. Taylor was ahead of nine other voting candidates with approximately 49 percent of the votes in the first round of voting on the option in rank around 8:15 pm
Former American deputy Barbara Lee was second with about 45 percent of the votes. All other candidates had less than 2 percent of the vote for each.
The results are preliminary, and the final voting balance will be announced after the voter office registered several rounds of the number of votes in the rank. It may take several days to enter the final outcome and the next scheduled update until Friday, according to the registrar’s website.
The election date was set after former mayor Shing Tho lost a summons elections in November. Lee, who held the position of representative of the American Congress in the city from 1998 to 2025, and Taylor, a former member of the city council and founder of the Political Call Opening Organization Oakland.
Taylor was previously nominated for a municipality against Thao in 2022 and lost its elections with less than 700 votes after nine rounds of voting in the rank. Of the third generation of Auckland, Taylor has a master’s degree in biomedical engineering from the University of Connecticut and a master’s degree in Business Administration from the University of California at Haas Business College in Berkeley.
In addition to her career in Congress, she also worked at California Association for six years and the Senate in the state for two years. She obtained a Bachelor’s degree from Mills College in Auckland and a master’s degree in social work from the University of California, Berkeley.
Among the other candidates in voting are President Donald Trump, enthusiastic Mindy Bishinok and repeated expatriate Peter Liu, the Olympic/former comedian and Parista Elizabeth Swani, former Reinte Web’s former advisor, “on her official boxes.” Jordan, who said it had suspended its campaign to support me, and the Union Factory worker Eric Simpson.
