Loose tire kills driver on I-680 near Alamo

((CrohnThe California Road Patrol said the Toyota Toyota driver was hit and killed with a loose frame while traveling north in I-680 on Thursday near Alamo.

The accident occurred after the frame was separated from a car traveling on the other side of the highway at approximately 1:35 pm, south of Wadi Stone Road. Toyota driver suffered from major injuries from the accident and announced his death at the scene.

“Our initial investigation indicates that the Ford was traveling to I-680 north, south of Stone Valley Street, when, for reasons that are still under investigation, the left back wheel has become separate,” said the CTRA COTRA COTRA Contra Office. “The wheel continued to travel north when I crossed over the concrete center division, and hit Toyota Tundra walking on the other side of I-680.”

CHP closed a slow lane south of I-680 after the accident. The heading side south was reopened at about 3:24 pm, the left corridors were closed from the north corridors at around 3:30 pm and they were reopened at 4:21 pm

The truck driver remained at the scene and cooperated with the authorities.
