Lonzo Ball has played for four NBA teams in his career, but he has struggled to stay healthy throughout a single season. Ball, after being waived by the Utah Jazz, is drawing interest from a couple of NBA teams.
Yet those teams want to ensure Ball would be a solid addition to their rosters, especially given his history of medical issues.
NBA Teams Want to Check Lonzo Ball’s Medical Records
On Saturday, Chris Haynes, senior NBA insider for NBA on Prime, posted on X that there is interest in Ball. But there is a specific hitch.
“Multiple teams have requested to review the medical of Lonzo Ball in order to make a determination on signing the new free-agent point guard, league sources tell me,” Haynes wrote.

Jake Fischer, who contributes to NBA insider Marc Stein’s “The Stein Line,” added comments on one team currently evaluating Ball. “As the Warriors are working to convert two-way guard Pat Spencer to a roster spot, Golden State also has its sights set on adding Lonzo Ball via the buyout market, sources say,” Fischer wrote.
Fischer later added, “Golden State still has to go through Lonzo Ball’s medical before finalizing his addition. Denver was another team that showed interest in Ball, sources say.”
The big question now is whether Ball is healthy enough to pass a physical. It is possible his medical records could deter teams such as the Warriors and Nuggets from signing him.
For his NBA career, Ball — who has played for the Los Angeles Lakers, New Orleans Pelicans, Chicago Bulls, and Cleveland Cavaliers — has averaged 10.3 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 5.6 assists per game, while shooting 39.2% from the floor. He also has a 35.5% career shooting percentage from 3-point range.
Ball has yet to play at least 65 games in a season, and in each of the past two seasons, he appeared in just 35 games after missing two full years of NBA action.
Ball was a first-round pick (No. 2 overall) by the Lakers in the 2017 NBA Draft. He played college basketball at UCLA, giving him the opportunity to join his hometown team immediately after his time with the Bruins. Now, Ball awaits a call from another NBA team in hopes of continuing his professional career.
