The demolition ceremony was held on Monday for the old English village of Queen Mary, where officials said that the rupture would pave the way for a safer and more vital area near the historic ship.
“We are here to honor our past, and we build our future, and here for new beginnings here in the Queen of Mary,” said the mayor of Long Beach Rex Richardson.
The old English village was built in 1972, but it fell vacant for about five years before the city started demolishing the structures earlier this month, Long Beach Post I mentioned.
“This procedure eliminates unsafe infrastructure,” Richardson said. “It addresses safety concerns, and opens this decisive space so that we can better serve thousands of visitors to come to Long Beach. Either Queen Mary, festivals or flights.”
The $ 1.4 million project is expected to end next month, which includes the new asphalt paving on a quarter -acre site, according to The Post.
“It is a truly exciting time not only for Queen Mary, but more importantly, only for Long Beach in general,” said Steve Coluka, Managing Director of Queen Mary.
