After announcing her comeback to alpine skiing following a knee replacement surgery, 41-year-old Vonn finished sixth in her first World Cup downhill race held at St. Anton in early January this year. She suffered a crash while training downhill at Cortina d’Ampezzo, though she luckily avoided any major injuries.

Vonn earned her first podium finish after coming out of her retirement in late March 2025. She finished in the second position at the FIS World Cup event held in Sun Valley, Idaho. However, this wasn’t enough for the 41-year-old alpine skier, who earned her 83rd World Cup victory overall at St. Moritz. Interestingly, this was also her first World Cup victory since 2018.

Vonn has qualified for her fifth Winter Olympics ever since her debut at the quadrennial event held in Salt Lake City around 2002. The alpine skier has one Olympic gold medal and two bronze medals to her credit. Vonn also won a total of eight World Championship medals throughout her career, which include two gold medals she won in the 2009 edition held at Val-d’lsere, situated in Savole, France.
