Jacksonville Jaguars rookie running back Bhayshul Tuten has been looked upon as someone who can help the Jaguars’ rushing attack improve. Head coach Liam Coen and the Jaguars’ front office are doing everything they can to provide starting quarterback Trevor Lawrence with as much help as possible.
Tuten was a fourth-round draft pick for Jacksonville in the 2025 NFL Draft out of Virginia Tech. In two seasons with the Hokies, Tuten totaled more than 2,000 rushing yards. It’s that type of output the Jaguars hoped he could bring immediately.
Tuten, though, didn’t get through Wednesday’s practice unscathed.
What’s Happening with Bhayshul Tuten?
Tuten was limited in the Jaguars’ practice on Wednesday with a shoulder injury. There was no further word on his status from Coen or the Jaguars’ medical personnel after practice.
A lot of Jaguars observers have noted how well Tuten has fit into the team’s offensive schemes. Some even point to him as a better choice at running back than Travis Etienne, even though Etienne is firmly entrenched as the RB1.

On 356 total carries at Virginia Tech, Tuten had 2,022 career rushing yards and 25 rushing touchdowns. He also had four touchdown receptions in college.
Now, Tuten turns his full attention toward making his mark in the NFL. He scored on a quick outlet pass from Lawrence against the Cincinnati Bengals, juking past one defender and finding his way into the end zone. He finished with eight carries for 42 yards and two catches for 32 yards and one touchdown.
Bhayshul Tuten Fantasy Outlook
How is Tuten looking right now for fantasy football players? PFSN’s Jason Katz offered some thoughts on Tuten heading into the Jaguars’ upcoming game against the Houston Texans.
“Fantasy managers who were excited about Bhayshul Tuten were sorely disappointed in Week 1 when the Jacksonville Jaguars deployed all four of their running backs,” Katz wrote. “Things took a very positive turn in Week 2.
“Travis Etienne Jr. remains the clear RB1,” Katz added. “However, the departure of Tank Bigsby in the trade to Philadelphia elevated the rookie to the clear RB2 role.
Katz also noted that while Tuten may have been listed as a backup, he played a consistent role in the offense, touching the ball 10 times despite logging just 25% of the snaps. Katz suggested that level of involvement could make Tuten a viable fantasy option for managers in need.
“Most importantly, Tuten looked good. He was quick, decisive, and explosive, totaling 74 yards. He also scored his first career touchdown on a designed screen, which had to have made the coaches’ eyes light up,” Katz said.
Jaguars fans and fantasy players all hope Tuten’s setback at Wednesday’s practice is just a mild situation. Everyone will know more about his health in the coming days, so it will be an issue worth watching.
