The glittering world of reality television can sometimes hide a darker truth—and few stories highlight that better than Kim Zolciak’s financial freefall. Once known for her lavish lifestyle on The Real Housewives of Atlanta and her spin-off Don’t Be Tardy, Zolciak now finds herself facing a staggering mountain of debt, legal trouble, and public scrutiny.
According to DailyMail.com, the 47-year-old Bravo alum and her husband, former NFL player Kroy Biermann, owe a jaw-dropping $1,800,451 in taxes, legal fees, credit card debt, and judgments. This includes over $1.1 million owed to the government, with federal tax liens filed for unpaid taxes dating as far back as 2013. A state tax lien filed in Georgia added another $17,610.40 to their growing list of unpaid obligations.
As DailyMail.com reported, “A federal tax lien was filed against them in April 2023 for owing: $714,143.90 for their 2018 taxes, $330,126.29 for their 2017 taxes, and $103,564.48 for their 2013 taxes.”
But the tax bill is just the beginning.
The couple was evicted from their Georgia home in April 2025 after failing to keep up with payments. The residence, once listed at $2.75 million, was sold in January—and by spring, U.S. Marshals had officially removed them from the property.
In addition to taxes and housing woes, Zolciak faces an avalanche of attorney fees linked to her ongoing and highly publicized divorce from Biermann. She owes attorney David Beaudry $33,191.65 and family law attorney Rachel Snider a whopping $143,950.91. According to court documents, “accrued and accruing interest at the rate of 18 percent per annum” means these amounts are only increasing.
The financial fallout also includes unpaid debts to Simmons Bank—$231,353.61 in total after a default judgment—and a longstanding legal battle with American Express, dating back to 2018. As of the latest filings, she still owes $215,876.68 to the credit card company.
The scope of the debt even stretches to retailers like Target and JP Morgan Chase Bank. One of the more unusual judgments involves a $2,661.09 debt to Target/TD Bank, which led to a court order allowing the sheriff to seize her assets.

Amid all this, Kim’s daughter Ariana Biermann added a heartbreaking layer to the story during the premiere of Next Gen NYC.
“I made quite a bit of money,” Ariana said, describing her early career as a teen influencer. “But, unfortunately, my parents took my money.”
Meanwhile, Biermann has alleged in court that Kim’s financial mismanagement included blowing through $1.5 million gambling, and spending over $600,000 at luxury retailers such as Neiman Marcus and Chanel.
In what some may view as a symbolic gesture, Kim has also begun selling off her designer handbags—including Balenciaga and Prada—on secondhand sites. These sales, DailyMail.com notes, have included items belonging to her daughter Brielle and husband Kroy.
Despite all the turmoil, in a surprising twist, Kim and Kroy called off their divorce in February 2025, filing a joint voluntary dismissal. After a nearly yearlong legal war, they appear—for now—to be attempting reconciliation.
But if the past two years are any indication, the financial and legal mess surrounding the Zolciak-Biermann household may be far from over.
