Khabib Nurmagomedov Sends a Message to Patrice Evra
Patrice Evra, a former French soccer player and Manchester United icon, is set to transition into mixed martial arts.
A recent report from PFL revealed that Evra is about to make his MMA debut under their promotion after his decorated soccer career. The report also disclosed that Evra’s debut is scheduled for May 23 at PFL Europe: Paris.
Nurmagomedov’s love for soccer and avid support for Manchester United are at the core of his brotherly relationship with Evra. “The Eagle” met Evra in November 2024 and spent some gala time together.
The 43-year-old also posted a snap from the meetup on his Instagram. Its caption revealed that Evra asked the former UFC Lightweight Champion to train him. Nurmagomedov replied to the soccer player’s request through his Instagram story: “I will send you the location very soon. Be ready.”
With Evra set to make his PFL debut, Nurmagomedov recently reposted a continuation of the previous chapter of their meetup on his social media. He shared a reel from PFL’s official account, which showed their wholesome interaction during a recent video call.
The two talked and joked about several things, including Nurmagomedov offering to fight for Evra at one point. The Dagestani said, “Brother, you don’t need this. Why do you need to train? If you need to fight. I’m gonna fight for you.”
After the chit-chat, Evra said he wanted to train with Nurmagomedov, given that both were in Dubai. The UFC star responded in the caption of the Instagram story, “Now I know your location. Be ready, champ.”
Evra’s soccer fame is expected to attract a large number of viewers to his debut fight in PFL. However, it remains to be seen if he can earn a victory in it after training with Nurmagomedov.
Evra was elected captain of the French national team in 2004, a duty he fulfilled until he retired from international soccer in 2016. The 43-year-old also spent eight years of his career at Manchester United (2006-2014), where he played 379 times and helped his side win the Premier League title five times.
