Kerrville locals call July 4 floods 'unfathomable' after decades of smaller floods

Kerville, Texas (KXAN) – With the continued number of those dead or missing in height, the locals in Texas Kurville pick up the pieces.

“We are getting warnings for the floods, which we get all the time,” said Mark Armstrong, the owner of the Leckhaus Restaurant.

On Friday, July 4, he and his wife arrived at the restaurant for a surprise. While they knew that the flood was bad, they saw a lot before not worried. After that, around 7 am, they withdrew the restaurant they had for nearly 30 years to find water floods to the street.

The house overlooks the Guadalobi River. A sharp slope protects the restaurant from previous floods. Armstrong said that the closest to a flood was 100 yards at the bottom of the slope.

On July 4, the water filled the parking lot and running out on the street. The water inside the restaurant arrived by slipping under the doors. Armstrong described what he saw as “unacceptable.”

“We were just looking at a scene that we could never see. It was not possible,” said Armstrong.

The restaurant was less damaged than other places. She managed to reopen it two days later and help feed the needy and those who came to help.

“They seem to be a little heavy on the volunteers in the city, which is a good problem,” Salma said. He went out of himself to walk on the shores of Guadalobi, and examined the debris that may have been missed.

Beyond it, a crew of fallen springs is used for heavy and sawn machines to clean the debris. The crew usually said that it is a group that makes the artificial basins of developments, and they arrived and were told where they explained.

The officials asked them to skip one area where the bodies need to search and report any unusual smell. The bodies may still be in the area they were.

“The time is from essence. There are families that need to be closed. Everyone can use a hand now and pray,” said Salma.
