John Travolta is totally obsessed with his private plane collection — and for good reason. A source tells Closer that the Saturday Night Fever star, 72, has decked them out to become five-star home-away-from-homes in the sky and spent millions of dollars in the process.
“John jokes that he’s happier in the air, and based on how much time he spends flying around it seems pretty accurate,” the source says. “He flies nearly every day of the year, and most of the time it’s one of his huge jets.”
The source adds that Travolta “loves to be in the captain’s seat, but he also likes to spend plenty of time lounging while one of his pilots takes the controls.” They also reveal that the Pulp Fiction actor, who was previously married to Kelly Preston until her death in 2020, loves to host movie screening parties on his jets.
“He has a full-on screening room with lounger seats and surround sound,” the source continues. “He’ll get 10 or 20 friends and head up into the sky for the night, and then land somewhere for dinner, and then screen another movie on the flight back.”
As for the amenities on board Travolta’s planes, the source says there’s “a full service bar and kitchen with a five star chef so there are plenty of snacks on the ride.” Plus, at least one of the planes boasts a “huge master bedroom” and a bathroom that includes a “rain shower and jacuzzi tub.”
“It’s very 1970s in the design but all very new and high end,” the source adds. “He spent a fortune on a custom bed. Money is no object when it comes to his planes.”
As Closer previously reported, Travolta has been living like a king in recent years.
“He’s always been one for living large, but now he’s going all out, traveling the world with his kids, indulging in fine dining, luxury hotels and sightseeing tours, and private jets when he’s not piloting his own planes,” a source revealed in 2024. “John’s having the time of his life at 70. He’s incredibly generous and looking after everybody. The bills are all on him and he wouldn’t have it any other way.”
