Jessica Pegula’s Fight for a Spot With Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Madison Keys Ends As American Dominate WTA Finals

World No. 6 Jessica Pegula has booked her place at the WTA Finals in Riyadh, becoming the sixth player to qualify for the prestigious season-ending event. And this marks her fourth consecutive year reaching the prestigious season-ending event, underscoring her consistency and elite standing on the tour.

Interestingly, the 2025 WTA Finals field is shaping up to be heavily American, with Coco Gauff (No. 3), Amanda Anisimova (No. 4) and Australian Open champion Madison Keys joining Pegula on the list of qualifiers.

How Did Jessica Pegula React to Her WTA Finals Qualification With Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, and Madison Keys?

Pegula has enjoyed a strong season, with five finals appearances and three title victories at the WTA 250 in Austin, the WTA 500 in Charleston, and the WTA 500 in Bad Homburg. Complementing this impressive run is her formidable 49–18 win-loss record, which underscored her consistency throughout the year.

The American has looked even more dominant since reaching the semifinals of the 2025 US Open. She carried that momentum into the China Open, overcoming Ajla Tomljanović, Emma Raducanu, Marta Kostyuk and Emma Navarro, before Linda Nosková halted her impressive run in the semifinals.

The 31-year-old is currently making a strong run at the WTA 1000 event in Wuhan. She has defeated Hailey Baptiste and Ekaterina Alexandrova before ousting Kateřina Siniaková to reach the semifinals. She is set to face a formidable challenge in the defending champion, Aryna Sabalenka.

While her semifinal spot in Wuhan was secured, another major boost came for the American as she also qualified for the WTA Finals in Riyadh. Alongside her, the year-end event features Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Gauff, Anisimova and Keys, highlighting a field prominently led by American talent.

Pegula, clearly pleased by the news and the prospect of competing alongside many of her fellow Americans, shared Tennis Channel’s post on her Instagram story.

Brimming with confidence, Pegula will be eager to cap her season with a triumph in the WTA Finals. Last year, however, her performance fell short of expectations, adding extra motivation for a stronger showing this time.

The American struggled to find her rhythm right from the round-robin stage. She began with a disappointing 3–6, 2–6 loss to compatriot and eventual champion Gauff, followed by a 3–6, 3–6 defeat to former Wimbledon champion Barbora Krejčíková. Her campaign ended prematurely when she withdrew from her final group-stage match against Swiatek due to injury.
