Jennifer Williams Accuses Evelyn Lozada of Colorism and Claims She Targets Black Women on Basketball Wives!
Jennifer Williams is no stranger to controversy, but the Basketball Wives star is standing firm — both in her marriage and in her feud with former best friend Evelyn Lozada.
In a recent interview with BOSSIP, Jennifer opened up about the criticism surrounding her husband, Christian Gold, who was sentenced to 15 days in jail after violating his probation. Despite the headlines — including Evelyn’s claims that Christian scammed a relative of her ex, Carl Crawford — Jennifer says she has nothing to hide.
“Every time I’m in a relationship, it’s always a topic of conversation,” she revealed. “This is my real life, and it is nothing to hide. We have weathered storms, it has made us stronger, and I’m really, really happy. So hopefully the audience sees that, and if they don’t, that’s their problem.”
Christian, who was temporarily released from jail to marry Jennifer last year, defended himself on the show with receipts in hand, showing text messages to Jackie Christie in an effort to clear his name. Jennifer praised her husband for not shying away from the spotlight, even when the scrutiny is intense.
“He is a person that doesn’t hide from problems. He actually runs towards them,” she said. “I commend him for being the person that he is.”
But Jennifer’s real heat came when discussing Evelyn’s repeated digs about Christian’s criminal record — a talking point that’s escalated tensions both on and off the screen. During a recent Basketball Wives episode, Jennifer clapped back by pointing out what she saw as hypocrisy.
“You like to bring up that Christian is a felon a lot,” she said. “And your daughter has a child by a felon as well.” The comment struck a nerve. Evelyn, clearly irritated, issued a warning on camera: “You won’t be able to walk the streets of LA… if you keep bringing my daughter up and who she’s with.”
Despite the threat, Jennifer hasn’t backed down. In a recent Instagram Live session, she accused Evelyn — who identifies as Afro-Latina — of having a long history of targeting Black women on the show.
“It might be Evelyn really has something against Black women,” Jennifer said. “Every season she is trying to go in on a Black woman. You tryna bring a Black woman down, you tryna bring a Black man down.”
It’s not the first time Evelyn has faced accusations of colorism. Fans have long pointed out her clashes with castmates like OG, Royce Reed, and Tami Roman — all Black women, many of whom are darker-skinned.
And while Basketball Wives has largely featured a cast of Black women since its inception, some viewers have questioned Evelyn’s treatment of certain co-stars throughout the years.
Jennifer’s comments have reignited conversations online, with fans split over whether her accusations reflect deeper tensions within the show’s long-running dynamics or if it’s simply reality TV drama reaching its boiling point.
As for Jennifer, she’s letting her critics talk — but not sway her. “I’m really, really happy,” she reiterated. “This is my real life, and I’m not here to make it pretty for anybody else.”
