'It's our city to lose': Preservation Austin's Legacy Business Month aims to keep historic Austin alive

Austin – This is a sign of your favorite local work support. Why? Because October is just around the corner, an old work month in Austin.

The old commercial month is a program to preserve Austin This encourages people to go out and support the famous local companies in the city.

It is somewhat similar to chase of the crops, and in the end, the participants have an opportunity to win prizes, such as a music wrist to the south by the southwest, the spa experiences in Ottine Mineral Springs, gift cards, Merch from participating companies, and more.

“This is a program in which we collect all Ostinists to go out and support the iconic companies for a long time, which really teach our city culture that needs all our support for prosperity and circumventing future generations.

The program works 1-31 October. Participants will capture free passports that include 10 companies in Austin, then take the passport to those companies and get a stamp when a purchase, then transfer their passports in early November to be entered to win prizes for most of the collected stamps.

“The whole goal is, take your passport, go to every work, buy something, and will give you a seal, and then, in this process, you can get to know these dates and really explore the city in a really fun and attractive way.”

Those interested can go to the launch of the old month of work on Zilker Taproom On October 2 from 6-9 pm to pick up their passport and the bitter mall beer experience at Taproom. Those who cannot make the party can capture a passport in either of them Wheatsville Co-OP Site or Zilker Taproom during working hours starting from October 1.

What is “old work”?

Austin preserved old business as a locally owned company and runs at least 20 years. Additional considerations include whether the work is:
● Contribute to a living and certain identity or society
The city as a whole.
● A generation of generations of the same family;
● She worked under an individual ownership for 20 years;
● She works outside its original location or works outside the same site for 20 years.

“Old companies, as we specify, need to operate for 20 years or more,” said Derngton. “They need to inform the city’s culture in some way, and only for our operational purposes, they must only have one location.”

This Derrington said this because many companies have grown and flourish to be able to open more than one site, which is great, but companies that have one site may need more help and support. In addition, it is easier to maintain the company’s work team and save Austin on the same page with the program if companies have only one site for coordination.

Legacy is an annual program that companies can apply to participate in. Derrington said so far, because this is the third year that Austin has preserved, there are 33 participating companies. In the first year, 13 companies participated, but now crowned 10 companies.

“These are not the only ten important companies in Austin in a specific month, like the presence of hundreds of old companies … We are only able to offer 10, but for this reason it is an annual program,” said Derngton. “Therefore, companies actually apply to participate and work closely with our employees to achieve this. We are excited to continue moving through 10 after 10 after 10 years and rotate in some very amazing places.”

Why old companies need additional support?

“It is our city that will lose it. If we want to remain a place we know and love, we need to support historical places.”

Lindsey Derngton, CEO of Austin Conservation

Derngton said that old companies are struggling with high rents, high property values, etc., since they carry parts of the city’s history and growth, they are “the pulse of the heart of our city.”

“From the places of iconic music and old shops, dear to the leading institutions in the field of lions and gay ownership, they are on the front lines to keep Austin in the unique, vibrant city that we all love.” “Supporting these companies is not just a longing, it is necessary. We call all Austinte to appear in October, celebrate these amazing places, and we face real taste for Austin in the old school.”

Derngton said on Thursday that holding programs like the old business month helps in celebrating and preserving history behind companies and helping to build enthusiasm due to the need to preserve them.

“People become really emotional when you talk about old companies, because they touch, such as, the places they went to as a child, or when they were in the college, where they met their partner … keeping what needs a hostess, just as it leaves it for chance, things can be closed on our mission in this task.

Derngton added that memorization can come in the form of several different procedures, such as communicating with local, state and unionist actors, shopping for holiday gifts in Terra Toys instead of the goal, or buying coffee from Mozart during the old business month.
