(KON) – The San Jose City Center for Animals confirmed on Wednesday that “the internal audit is currently underway” after the death of a dog in its patronage, asking local animal defenders with answers.
The SJ Animal Center says that the dog, called Lola, was “meager, lethargy and difficulty walking” when it was brought to the shelter by a member of the community on Monday. The officials said that had it not been for immediate assessment and treatment of the shelter medical team before transferring to their company in Medvet at 10 pm, while they were still alive.
“The city will seek the opinion of an external expert to help determine the cause of death. If any violations are found, there will be accountability.”
The livestock group claims our shelters that the tragedy was not an accident, but instead because of a “systematic failure”.
“In giving animals what we hope will be the opportunity of life, we face a great danger to a greater reward,” added the SJ animal center. “We are doing our best to help all pathological and wounded animals in the cities we serve.”
We will have more about this story as it is developing.
