'Insult to the history': Historic buildings demolished at Burnham Yard

Denver (KDVR) – The organizations speak after the demolition of historical buildings in Burnham Yard, a rumor area that is a new site for Denver Bronko.

The historical Denver, a non -profit organization calling for historical monuments, said that the Ministry of Transport at Colorado destroyed many historical properties during the weekend in Burnham Yard, an area of 58 acres between 4th Avenue and Seminole Street, which is rumored to be the new Denver Broncos Stadium.

Denver’s historical said that these buildings, which were “reduced to the rubble”, were a site where women and colored people were able to work when they were unable anywhere else. These buildings included a women’s cabinet room, the Foreman Roundhouse office, a solid car store and a test laboratory.

“The demolition of such important buildings historically without participating with local communities, historical Denver or the city and Denver province is very unethical. The narration that we can have either older buildings or new development is a wrong choice.”

While non -profit organizations said this had happened without any participation or consultation with stakeholders, this was in business for a long time.

Fox31 received several messages between the Colorado Investment Office for Transport, a CDOT Division, and the history of Colorado, including a message sent in May, which said that CDT met with representatives of historical Denver, the historic preservation office, and the La Alma/Lincoln Park neighborhood to discuss the following steps.

CDOT also suggested a mitigation of some historical characteristics to history in Colorado, which they later agreed and told CDT in a message stating that only two historical property were influenced by: Backshop/ LocComotive and Denver & Rio Grande Railward.

History Colorado said this dilution will include keeping the next buyer keeping the store, as well as making a documentary on the history of Burnham Yard.

“Any of the buildings that were found to be historically qualified by the Government Historical Preservation Office are part of this cleaning effort, and we are committed to working through the historical eligibility process of these structures. Historical decorations will remain on those structures after the sale of the property,” Colorado Investment Office said in a statement.

On July 28, the office also sent a notification to the Denver LandMark Preservation, the La alma Lincoln Park, and the Denver and Baker Historic Neighborhood Associas.

Despite the messages, the historical Denver and the local registered biology organization for La alma Lincoln Park claim that this was done without warning.

“The Neighborhood Association had no warning that this historic building would be demolished. The demolition of these historical buildings 1 shows a tremendous lack of respect for the history of our neighborhoods. Many of our neighbors had family members who worked in Burnham Yard. Lincoln Park said in a statement.

Although it is rumored that this is a new site for BONCOS since there have been new land purchases by the team or its partners in the previous Burnham Rail Yard, the current Boncos empowerment field in Mile Hight Stadium continues until 2031 and the team looks forward to other potential sites.
