Iga Świątek made a special request to Garbiñe Muguruza after the Spaniard shared a glimpse into her life as a first-time mother. The two-time Grand Slam singles champion revealed that she was making a cheesecake, which prompted Świątek to ask for a “slice” of the baked treat.
Muguruza married Arthur Borges in Oct. 2024. She announced her pregnancy in Sep. 2025, and last month, in Jan. 2026, the couple welcomed their first child, a son named Marcos Borges Muguruza.
Iga Świątek Makes Special Request to Garbiñe Muguruza After Witnessing Her Baking Expertise
Recently, Muguruza took to social media to share a video of herself preparing a burnt Basque cheesecake. She mentioned that she made the “quick cheesecake” during a rare moment of free time between her responsibilities as a mother.
“Found time to make a quick cheesecake yummy!!. 😋 🤍 👶🏻 🍼,” Muguruza captioned her Instagram post (translated from Spanish).
Muguruza’s video, flaunting the basque cheesecake she made, caught the attention of Świątek, who inquired if the Spaniard would share a “slice” of the cheesecake the next time she is in Madrid.
“😱 😱 Could I possibly get one slice in Madrid? 😍,” Świątek commented under Muguruza’s post.
“@iga.swiatek of course! 💕,” Muguruza replied.

Meanwhile, Świątek began her 2026 tennis season by representing Poland at the United Cup, where the Polish team triumphed over Team Switzerland in the final, securing the title for the first time.
The former World No. 1 then participated in the 2026 Australian Open. Seeded second in the tournament, she defeated Yuan Yue, Marie Bouzkova, 31st seed Anna Kalinskaya, and qualifier Maddison Inglis in the first four rounds. Her campaign then ended in the quarterfinals when she lost to the eventual champion, fifth seed Elena Rybakina.
Where Will Świątek Compete Next?
Looking ahead, Świątek is set to compete at the 2026 Qatar Open, which runs from Feb. 8 to 14, 2026. The tournament matches are being held on outdoor hard courts at the International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha, Qatar.
Świątek has previously claimed the Qatar Open title three times — in 2022, 2023, and 2024 — defeating Anett Kontaveit, Jessica Pegula, and Rybakina in the championship matches, respectively.
This year, Świątek is the top seed at the WTA 1000 hard court tournament and will begin her campaign in the second round after receiving a first-round bye. She will face either Wild Card Janice Tjen or lucky loser Beatriz Haddad Maia in her opening match.
Świątek and Maia have faced each other four times on the WTA Tour, with the Pole winning three of those encounters. Their most recent match was in the quarterfinals of the 2024 Madrid Open, which Świątek won with a scoreline of 4-6, 6-0, 6-2. She went on to defeat the defending champion Aryna Sabalenka to win the tournament, claiming her ninth WTA 1000 title and 20th career WTA Tour title.
On the other hand, Świątek and Tjen have never met on the WTA Tour, making their potential second-round match in Doha the first meeting between the two players.
The winner of the second-round match between Świątek and either Tjen or Maia at the 2026 Qatar Open will advance to face either 16th seed Elise Mertens or Daria Kasatkina in the third round.
