'I was in a really dark place': Colorado veteran thankful for his service dog that saved his life

Fort Lopeton, Colorado (KDVR) – The best friend of a man: an ideal way to describe Hank Ford and his service dog Tommy. It was never true to return in February when Tommy saved Ford’s life.

Whether it volunteers five hours a week at the golf course, go to the supermarket, or get tours at its favorite stadium, Hank Ford is not without your dog Tommy service.

Ford said: “We are one, as you know. I mean, we are like the same existence, as you know, we are connected.”

Ford, veteran, suffers from post -traumatic disorder and depression. This is what led him to communicate and get Tommy. A bond that will change Ford’s life forever.

Almost losing life, if Ford does not feel a tree while he was pushing his chest, and waking him a more early time from their usual time.

“It was just an issue,” said Ford.

Doctors told Ford that he was suffering from atrial fibrillation or AFIB, an irregular heartbeat that could lead to a medical emergency.

Ford said: “The doctor said that if he had not woke up that I could have a huge stroke, or maybe I would not have woke up,” Ford said.

Ford says every day he is grateful to his friend. Shakrin called for the help he needed.

Ford said: “I was really in a dark place and Tommy was not the light at the end of the tunnel. Tommy operated the spotlight,” Ford said.

Ford says he hopes to share his story, and will climb other old warriors and get their own service dogs.
