Hollywood model injured in unprovoked assault on Sunset Boulevard

A woman is speaking out after she was attacked by a stranger in broad daylight while walking down a Hollywood street.

Surveillance footage from a nearby business captured model Candy Tansiri walking down Sunset Boulevard near Bronson Street at around 4pm on October 22, just moments before she assaulted a man she had never seen before.

“I was shocked,” Tansiri, who lives nearby, told KTLA reporter Lindsay Peña. “I was shocked and horrified.”

She recalled that her alleged attacker was carrying a shoe and a plastic bag, and swung it at her head, leaving her with a gash above her left eye, and her lip with severe bruising and other injuries.

“There was something inside [the bag]. “I don’t know what it was, but it was very heavy,” she explained. This kind of thing has never happened in my life. “I have never been attacked before.”

While in hospital receiving treatment, Tensiri filed a police report, telling investigators, who had not yet made an arrest, that she would fully recognize her attacker if she saw him again.

Tansiri, a working model, told KTLA that the assault not only affected her ability to book jobs, but had a negative impact on her personal sense of safety and security. She said she is speaking out about the attack in hopes of warning others to always be alert.

“Since this happened, I’m afraid to go out, to be honest,” she said. “I’m still processing. I’ve completely lost confidence in walking around.”

Officials with the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed to KTLA that they are investigating the incident and urged anyone with information to contact the department’s Hollywood Division at 213-972-2971. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call the Los Angeles Regional Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-222-8477.
