High-flying offenses Georgetown, Rouse clash Friday on KXAN+

AUSTIN (KXAN) — Georgetown and Ross are on opposite ends of the District 8-5A1 standings, but that shouldn’t detract from what’s bound to be a high-octane matchup Friday on KXAN+.

The Eagles (4-1, 2-0) host the Raiders (2-3, 0-2) at 7 p.m. at Berkelbach Stadium, a game ripe for plenty of scoring. Ross is collecting 41 points per game, where Georgetown has scored 40.4 points per game, and both are finding the pay pile in different ways.

The Raiders are airing it with quarterback London Morgan. He is averaging 329.2 yards per game and has racked up 19 touchdowns to three interceptions. He’s completed 67% of his passes and has plenty of weapons to get the ball to. O’Brien Davis and Alfredo Lopez each have seven touchdowns, and Lopez is the big threat averaging 19.5 yards per catch. Davis leads the team with 36 catches totaling 482 yards. Lopez caught 26 passes for a team-leading 506 yards. Peter Mietus has 25 catches for 298 yards and a pair of scores.

The Eagles have one of the best runners in Central Texas in Jett Walker, and with a big night, he could eclipse the 5,000-yard rushing mark. He hasn’t been relied on much this season, but he showed everyone what he’s capable of after an incredible year last year with 2,351 yards and 37 touchdowns. He’s part of a trio of running backs this year, leading the team with 398 yards on 52 carries with four touchdowns. Weston Steward also has four scores on the ground for 293 yards on 37 carries. Zech Guyton has 48 carries for 308 yards, and the Eagles have rushed for 1,040 yards as a team this season.

The Eagles’ win keeps them undefeated in district play, and if the Raiders do that on the road, it will be their first district win in three tries.

Roger Wallace and Keith Moreland will be on the call. The broadcast begins at 6:55pm and will appear in the video player above on the channel KXAN.com broadcast page And the KXAN+ application for smart TV.
