Hayward teen's murder remains unsolved; mother demands justice

(Crohn)-Two years after the shooting of 15-year-old Eric Portlelo to death outside his house in Haward, the case is still unleashed, and his mother calls for the new Alamida province’s measures.

Portleu was shot on August 1, 2023, leaving behind his mother, Brenda Anno, and sister.

“I have no son, my child is with me,” said Ancolo. “It is strange that you are not about my son. Can someone help me, please? I need justice for your Eric.”

More than a year after Erik was killed, Hawward police released a photo of potential suspects, and asked the audience’s help. However, no arrests have been made in the case, and Annulo says she has not received an update from the Haward Police Department within two months.

Portilo had graduated from high school next year and dreamed of playing football at Stanford University. On Friday, Annulo and dozens of loved ones gathered to launch balloons on the second anniversary of his death, which sparked hope for justice.

The Hayuard officer, Jessica Panwellus Kron4, made a statement on Sunday regarding the investigation.

“With the passage of the anniversary of his death just, we realize the pain and questions that have not been answered, they face their confrontation,” Panwalus said. “The investigation of Erik’s death is still open and continuous. While the previously appointed investigator has been reset, the new investigator is reviewing all the status materials actively to determine the following steps. We are still committed to following up on any new information or evidence when available.”
