Wondering if All American will return for Season 8 on The CW? The series just wrapped up its latest season with a major cliffhanger, leaving fans eager for answers. With the fate of Beverly’s playoff hopes and unresolved family drama still hanging in the air, many are asking if the show will get another chapter.
Here’s what we know about the renewal status and what the showrunner has revealed about plans for Season 8.
Has the CW canceled or renewed All American Season 8?
All American has not yet been officially renewed for Season 8 by The CW. However, showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll remains hopeful. She has also shared her plans for the show if it returns.
In an exclusive interview with Parade, Carroll discussed the Season 7 finale cliffhanger, which left viewers hanging as KJ (Nathaniel Logan McIntyre) threw a last-second pass in a high-stakes playoff game. “I absolutely know how that game ends,” Carroll confirmed, though the final outcome remains unseen by viewers. She emphasized the personal and team stakes for Jordan (Michael Evans Behling), who stepped up as “Coach JB” in the finale.
The episode also revealed new family connections, with Jordan discovering that KJ and Cassius (Osy Ikhile) are his cousins after a gym attack led to a blood donation. Carroll noted Jordan’s internal struggle with forgiving Cassius, who threatened the legacy of his late father, Billy Baker. “Forgiveness is the goal. Healing is the goal,” she said. “But realistically, the kind of hurt and trust that was broken is going to take time to rebuild.”
Meanwhile, characters like Amina are making pivotal choices. She opted to attend boarding school, marking a turning point in her arc. “Amina is finally choosing herself,” Carroll stated. KJ also decided on his romantic future, choosing Tori, who Carroll described as someone who “deserved this moment.”
If renewed, Carroll said she’s eager to explore dynamics within the new generation—KJ, Amina, Khalil—as well as Jordan and Layla’s life as newlyweds and Coop’s new relationship and legal journey. “I’m so excited and energized by this new generation,” she said.
