Harris Dickinson has opened up about the uncomfortable reality he faced during the promotional tour for his latest film, revealing that female fans made inappropriate comments that crossed professional boundaries. The 29-year-old actor, who starred opposite Nicole Kidman in the A24 erotic thriller Babygirl, shared his experience on the Happy Sad Confused podcast with host Josh Horowitz.
The British actor explained that he faced numerous situations during press events and Q&A sessions where women made remarks he described as “deeply inappropriate” and “completely unacceptable.” Despite the discomfort these interactions caused, Dickinson noted that male actors are often expected to simply laugh off such behavior, which contributed to his struggle with the promotional experience.
During the podcast appearance, Dickinson recounted a particularly uncomfortable incident on an airplane, where a passenger asked him to dance for her before making unsolicited comments about her personal viewing experience of the film. The actor stated he did not want to know about strangers’ intimate experiences with the movie, calling such interactions inappropriate.
Dickinson pointed to a double standard in Hollywood, noting that it has become acceptable to sexualize younger male actors in ways that would be considered unacceptable if directed toward women. The actor emphasized that while he understood the film contained erotic elements, the approach taken by director Halina Reijn was meant to be nuanced and unique rather than reductive.

Despite these challenging experiences, Harris Dickinson expressed pride in his work on Babygirl. He described collaborating with director Halina Reijn as meaningful and called working alongside Nicole Kidman the most exciting aspect of the project. The film tells the story of a high-powered CEO who begins an affair with her younger intern, exploring themes of power and desire.
The actor acknowledged that while he struggled with how fans reduced certain aspects of the film, he recognizes that public perception cannot be controlled. Dickinson remains committed to his craft and is currently promoting Urchin, his directorial debut, while preparing to portray John Lennon in Sam Mendes‘ upcoming Beatles biopic series.
