Halle Berry Felt ‘Empowered’ While ‘Standing Up’ for Herself With ‘a Few of’ Her Bosses – Closer Weekly

Halle Berry isn’t afraid to be bold when needed.

While speaking to Variety on Tuesday, February 10, at the Los Angeles premiere for her upcoming thriller Crime 101, the 59-year-old actress explained her character in the film tells their boss to “shut the f**k up” when faced with ageism and misogyny.

“I’ve said that to a few of my bosses,” the Golden Globe winner told the outlet. “[It feels] amazing because that means I’m standing up for myself as a woman and I’m empowered. That has felt really good every time I’ve had to do that.”

The Catwoman star noted she could relate to her character being shamed for her age, admitting, “I know the heartbreak of that.”

“I know how marginalized women feel when they get around those numbers, and so I think I felt it for every woman who has been there and felt that way,” she explained.

“It’s wrong and I think as women we have to reclaim the narrative. We’re not done at 50, 60, even 70,” she added. “We have so much more to offer. I’m 60 this year and I feel like I’m just getting my second groove started, so not done.”
