(KON) – Texas Ken Buckston announced on Friday that Google will pay 1.375 billion dollars to Texas as part of the settlement of data privacy.
Paxton filed a law against Google in 2022 after it was claimed that the company had broke the law by tracking and collecting private data related to user sites, hidden search operations and biometric data. Buckston called the settlement “a historic victory for the privacy and privacy of Texas data.”
“After years of aggressive lawsuits, the Pactin Prosecutor approved the settlement of Texas data claims against Google for a sum of more than any other claims of similar violations,” and also reads a statement issued by the Pakston office. “Until now, no country has been settled against Google due to violations similar to the stability of data exceeding $ 93 million. Even the multi-stage coalition that included forty states within only $ 391 million-nearly one billion dollars less than Texas recovery.”
Backston said that the lawsuit sends a message to the technology companies that they will pay in exchange for misuse of public confidence.
“For years, Google secretly tracked people’s movements, special research operations and even their audio and facial engineering through their products and services,” Buckston said in a statement. “I fought and won.”
In July, Paxton negotiated a $ 1.4 billion settlement with Meta to collect the alleged company and use facial recognition data. Paxton has also participated in a $ 700 million multi -level settlement with regard to allegations that Google was illegally strangled by the competition in its Android App Store.
