Glenn Close ‘Has No Use for Fame’ After Montana Move (EXCL)

Glenn Close has been opening up about her decision to trade her busy life in New York City for a quieter one in Montana, which a source exclusively tells Closer has given her way more family time and serenity that’s completely transformed her world for the better.

The Fatal Attraction star, 78, revealed she opted for a more “modest” life in 2019 and hasn’t looked back since. “Today, my home is in Bozeman, Montana. All of my siblings live here. My modest, 1892 brick house has a porch where I can see the mountains and say, ‘hi,’ to neighbors,” she told The Wall Street Journal in January.

The insider says the move was inspired in equal part by a longing to be nearer to the Back in Action actress’ family and disdain for keeping up with her pressured social life in NYC.

“Glenn had enough of the superficial life in the big city, she wanted nature and she wanted to be near family,” the source tells. “For so many years, she was so caught up in the business, going from one set to another, she’s so happy to finally put that lifestyle in her rear view.”

That’s not to say the Oscar-nominated actress is thinking about retiring from entertainment any time soon. Glenn has been working a ton since the move and currently has six more projects in the pipeline — ones the source notes are only by specific choice — but still prefers to keep her personal time away from her acting career and focused on her close friends and family in Montana.

“She’s so much happier being at home relaxing with her family these days and has no interest in spending time with other people in the business,” the source adds. “She’s still going to do a few select projects, but she will fly in and out for those, the minute she’s wrapped it will be straight back to her hometown.”

“I shot a film in Canada during the winter. It was fun and lovely, but I was homesick, and I never used to get homesick,” Glenn told Mountain Outlaw in 2021. “Not only is Bozeman my home, but I couldn’t wait to get back here. When I left to go to that job, Jessie and Tina [her sisters] were there to see me off at the airport. It was so great. I’ve come to realize how much I dread going away.”

The actress is so committed to living the peaceful life out West she’s expanding her real estate portfolio in Big Sky Country, including building her dream home. “I’m building a larger house about a half-hour outside of town. It’s going to be my Zen farmhouse and our family sanctuary,” she stated. “In the back will be a stone cottage, reminding me of the best years of my childhood.”

“She’s building her dream home there where she can just walk out her door deep into nature, that’s how she wants to spend her days,” the source explains. “She wants to walk to the local store, not the red carpet, she has no use for fame and all the Hollywood bulls–t anymore.”
