Gerrit Cole’s Sons Channel Yankees Ace Dad’s Vibes in Pinstripes During Sweet Ballpark Moment

New York Yankees ace Gerrit Cole was sidelined for the entire season even before the opening day due to an injury to his pitching arm, which required Tommy John surgery. He made the announcement via a social media post on Mar 10 but has been present in the dugout to cheer for and boost the morale of his teammates during game days this season.

Cole has been happily married to his longtime girlfriend, Amy Crawford, since Nov 12, 2016. The couple had previously started to date in 2009 when they were both studying at UCLA and playing for the Bruins sports teams. Cole played collegiate baseball with the Bruins while Amy was on the softball team, which also won the NCAA title in 2010.

Together, the duo created a happy family of two sons. Their eldest son, Caden Cole, was born on Jun 30, 2020, while their second son, Everett Cole, was born more than two and a half years later on Jan 2, 2023. The family resides in the Bronx, New York, where Cole has been playing professional baseball with the Yankees since 2020.

After defeating the Rockies in a three-game series at Coors Field, the Yankees hit the road again and traveled to Anaheim to take on the Los Angeles Angels in a three-game series at Angel Stadium.

Cole was present in the dugout with his teammates while his wife and kids sat on the seats just above the dugout and had a great vantage point of the game. Caden and Everett both rocked Yankees pinstripes jerseys while holding their catching gloves in one hand and a baseball in the other.

Amy captured the duo looking at the field with their backs turned to the camera and shared that image via her Instagram story on Monday.

Gerrit Cole is Hopeful of a Speedy Recovery from the Tommy John Surgery

In early May, Cole had a conversation with Yankees beat reporter for MLB.com, Bryan Hoch. During the interview, Cole, who was progressing in his rehab, told Hoch that he was itching to get back on the mound but would wait to get fully recovered from the TJS.

Cole said, “I hope it comes back like a fresh, new set of tires. That’s the best hope: just a pit stop that took a little longer than we had hoped for. … The first few weeks are important. It’s a long process, and it’s not super enjoyable. But you’ve got to not rush it and be where you are in the process. It gets better and better as it goes along, but it takes a while.”

Even the Yankees would be hopeful that their ace makes a good and complete recovery soon and rejoins the team to bolster the bullpen next season.
