Future of historic Zuni Power Plant remains unknown, Xcel still open to a sale

KDVR – The future of the historical power plant is still forgetting, but community groups hope that things will become more clear. A month ago, Xcel Energy put on the market for 30 days to try to find a buyer instead of demolishing it.

This window has now passed without selling, but the community’s effort has developed plans to demolish.

“There are some interesting stories associated with this building that deserve to be told for a long time in the future.”

Stories that hope will not be lost in a wreckball. With the approaching date of XCel for 30 days to sell property that is close to last week, Defenbau began to worry.

“The historical of Denver believes that 30 days to sell this size building is an incredibly and unrealistic period,” he said.

For this reason, the company Denver Historic, La Alma-Lincoln Park Neighborhood Association and Sun Valley Community Coalition partnesty partnership to apply for a prominent designation from the city. Defenbake hopes to delay any demolition plans.

“I really hope we can all work with the amount of space and time to hold conversations that need to be held around the future of this building,” says Defenbau. “These conversations will not take place in a way, in 30 days.”

In a statement from Xcel, the company said:

We have worked closely and transparently with society, the city, and the PUC Public Facilities Committee (PUC), over the past five years to understand how property can serve the vision of society and its future.

As mentioned in our community’s speech, it is important to note that the property is currently listed for sale and we are ready to work with buyers and developers interested for the purchase process that have the expertise required for the redevelopment of the building. The inclusion of the property in the market officially allows increased awareness of more than local developers and the parties concerned that we have made offers during the past few years. We will consider an offer outside the 30 -day time frame for the real estate for sale publicly. We do not reveal confidential information about the offers provided. The list will be updated accordingly if it is under the contract.

The property list is still active, and Defenbau says that an offer to buy the property has been presented but the company rejected.

“I really like to talk to them more about the reason for refusing this,” he says. “What can we all do to work together to allow them to reach a point that can accept the building?”

XCEL refused to reveal any information about this offer. Defenbau hopes that Xcel already looks at a 30 -day window, and regardless of how to do this, the Zuni factory lives in it.

“I really like to re -discover that spirit that could be the spirit and that vision that has identified Denver in the past and can do it again,” said Divinbo.

The price of the demand that Xcel wants for the factory is not included in its list and the company has not confirmed this yet, but Defenbau says they were looking for more than 7 million dollars. He said he had a positive conversation with Xcel last Tuesday and hoped to continue cooperation in the coming weeks.
