Forgotten 1995 Movies That Deserve to Be Rediscovered – Jimmy Star’s World

The world was a very different place 30 years ago. American Online came online in 1995. The trial of O.J. Simpson dominated headlines. Seinfeld and Friends were the most popular comedies on television.

Okay, so not everything has changed in 30 years. But the world of film definitely has. In 1995, there was really only one major superhero franchise on the planet, and it was a Batman movie starring a cackling Jim Carrey in skintight Spandex. Many of the other biggest hits of the year were original concepts like Toy StoryApollo 13, and Seven.

Those films became iconic ’90s favorites that people still watch and talk about today. So have other 1995 blockbusters like GoldenEyeDie Hard With a VengeanceJumanji, and Bad Boys. Others slowly grew into cult classics like A Goofy MovieEmpire Records, or Hackers. Even some of 1995’s flops are well-remembered simply because of how badly they performed with audiences or critics, like the notorious Waterworld.

But dozens of films were released into theaters in 1995 and a lot of them — including some really great titles — have slowly faded into semi-obscurity. Even a fairly knowledgeable movie lover might have missed a few of them. With that in mind, our list today spotlights 12 good films from the year 1995 that are ripe for rediscovery. It includes comedies, romances, action movies, horror flicks, and documentaries. Some of the titles were made by established Hollywood veterans at the end of their careers; others were produced by then-unknown filmmakers who, in a few years time, would become some of the biggest names in Hollywood. They’re all available to watch at home now. Check out the list, and then check them out on your TV or computer.
