Denver (KDVR) – Firestone residents are concerned about a new cost they can take, thanks to readers of new licensing panels in the city. The police ask for assistance.
Fireston said it started installing the herd license plate readers last year, 14 in total throughout society. Now, the police administration is seeking to place it near the neighborhoods and ask home owners’ associations to finance them.
“It is a great area. It is really,” said Bigge.
Beegle loves his life, Stoneridge, but he is frustrated by HOA to consider the Firestone Police Department. According to the city of Firestone, the police have come to Hoas in the past few months about the status of the license plate readers at the entrance to the neighborhoods.
However, this request comes with an annual fee of $ 4,500 that HoAS must be covered, which equals $ 13 per year per resident in Stoneridge.
“This type of financing is not appropriate,” said Bejel. “It is out of the range, in my opinion, for the responsibility of HOA.”
Pitil said that Stoneridge Hoa sent a survey of the population to obtain an opinion on the proposal. He said he spoke to many of his neighbors who share his concern about a precedent that will be appointed.
“If you now start participating in the activities of the town of financing, where will that end?” question.
Although $ 13 to start does not seem much, future requests with different fees can accumulate.
“Now you want the police administration, as you know, to have a different type of equipment or anything else,” said Bejel. “Do they return to Hoas and ask for help in financing it?”
The city said that the 14 readers who were installed last year have already proven useful, and that the initiative is completely voluntary, and if the neighborhood does not choose, it will not be punished in any way.
Bejel said his case was not with the police or town.
“Frankly, I commend their creativity in an attempt to cover the lack of budget with something they want to do, but it is not the right approach,” he said.
He just hopes that the Hoa Council, which has the final vote in this regard, will choose not to participate in the initiative.
“I am really surprised by this, and I do not know if they have really thought about the long -term influence on the funding side of it,” Pitil.
Nate Belt from Fox31 to the Director of the Board of Directors of Stoneridge Hoa, who refused to comment on a possible vote on the proposal.
