Denver (KDVR) – Evidence indicates that the airport fire, which ignited it during the weekend and burned more than 100 acres in Douglas County, was due to a passing train, according to the investigators.
On Sunday afternoon, the firefighters responded to “multiple vegetation fires” along the railway near Louviers. The fire was upgraded to a fire on the ground land in the second land, and after 3 pm, South Metro Fire Rescue asked people in the city to evacuate immediately.
The crews in the air and on the ground have been containing the fire since then.
The evacuation orders were raised at about 7:30 pm on Sunday, after the fire burned about 130 acres and was 90 % content. In the last update on Tuesday, Douglas Sharif County Office said the fire was still 90 %.
On Wednesday, the Douglas Sharif County Office announced that the investigation conducted by the Marshal Office in South Metro rescued fires, found evidence that the fire was “ignited through the activity associated with a transient train.”
