Fallen Austin police officer honored with memorial marker in Liberty Hill

Liberty Hill, Texas (KXAN) – a police officer has now fell a permanent memorial sign in his honor.

On Saturday morning, the Austin Police Department installed a memorial mark of the senior APD Anthony “Tony” Martin, who died in a motorcycle crash in 2022.

APD installed the Granite Memorial brand at the intersection of Al -Balad Highway 29 and RM 1869 at Liberty Hill, the site where Martin died on September 23, 2022.

Police said Martin was on his way home from a nightplace when the accident occurred.

The installation was the 22nd mark that was placed as part of the Austin police officer project, which was started by Sergeant Jason Hoskins in April 2008.

The project places the granite monument in each location in Austin, where Austin police officer was killed in the homework position, according to APD. The monument is 5 feet and 4 inches, 20 inches wide, and 6 inches thick and made of gray granite. Rockle Memorial donated all the signs.

Martin was with APD for more than 16 years. Before that, he spent 20 years recruited in the US Air Force.
