KDVR – Colorado Ministry of Transport said that car drivers should start expecting more delay along the mountain corridor on the 70th highway, as more drivers go to mountain communities during the summer months.
Traffic data appears from Friday, June 21, until Sunday, June 23, 2024, that there are “large-scale” delays along the I-70 Mountain Corridor, due to the front domain residents trying to “overcome heat”, according to CDOT.
At the end of this week, the agency said it expects similar traffic effects due to music and music festivals “retreat” throughout the mountain cities of Colorado.
CDOT said that car drivers should be ready to travel time from C-470 to Silverthorne to take more than two hours.
In the future, the agency also noted that the fourth weekend of July “constantly” is one of the heaviest weekends in the corridor, and with the holiday down this year, CDOT said it expects important delays starting on Thursday 3 July.
The agency also encourages auto drivers to ensure that their car is maintained properly before reaching the mountains, in the event of a closure or any extended delay.
Car drivers are also encouraged to keep their vehicles equipped with water, snacks and a full gas tank, among other things.
