Denver (KDVR) – The faculty and students will no longer return to Evergreen High School for at least another week, as the community deals with the fire after the school on September 10.
On Sunday evening, Jefferson Public County Schools sent a press statement explaining:
“Evergreen Secondary School will be closed in the week of September 15th. The district leadership is working on a plan to return to learning and will end later in the week.”
Two students were shot and were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
As of the last update of their circumstances on Friday, one of the students was in serious condition and was transferred to another hospital. Another victim is still in critical condition at St. Anthony Hospital.
The family of one of the victims made a statement, which was transferred through the Jefferson Sharif County Office on Thursday.
The statement said: “The family appreciates the interest and support of society, but as we continue to focus on recovering our loved ones, we ask for respect for privacy as we continue to heal and move on the way forward.”
The suspect died in the same hospital, where the victims were taken to. He died from a gunshot wound at the school, according to AP reports.
