2025 was a significant year for Bouchard as she pulled the curtains on her tennis career at her home event at the Canadian Open. Having made a transition towards pickleball, the former World No. 5 did not regularly feature on the WTA Tour in recent years.

However, in front of her home crowd, she made a winning start, defeating Emiliana Arango in the first round. In what turned out to be her last professional tennis match, she lost to Belinda Bencic in a hard-fought three-set match.

Recently, Bouchard shared pictures of herself wrapped in a blanket, with the Canadian coming down with a bout of flu, which has put a spanner in her holiday plans with her family. Sharing her picture, she posted, “Got so sick.”

The Canadian also shared glimpses of the movie that she was watching in hopes of feeling better. However, unfortunately for her, she did not like the movie at all, as it made her feel worse than she was already feeling. Sharing the experience on her Instagram story, she captioned, “I don’t want to be a hater but this movie was so bad it made by sickness feel worse.”

In a joking way, Bouchard shared that the only thing that was bearable for her was watching a fireplace on TV. However, the Canadian’s physical condition being so frail, she could not get up and use her own fireplace, which can be seen right below the TV.

If one has to look at Bouchard’s overall results on court, it might be summed up as an underachievement. The Canadian could only win one title on the WTA Tour from eight finals, winning at the 2014 Nuremberg Cup.

2014 was the single most successful season in Bouchard’s career, as she reached the Wimbledon final and made successive semifinal runs at the Australian Open and at the French Open. This year saw her break into the Top on the WTA Rankings, helping her reach a career-best ranking of No. 5.
